Suspected Traffic Robbers Arrested (Video)

No fewer than 10 suspected armed robbers have been nabbed by the Lagos State police for attacking commuters in traffic and dispossessing them of their belongings in Ikeja area of the State, South-West Nigeria.

The suspects are Sadiq Masaki, 22; Oladimeji Olatunbosun, 24; Adam Hassan, 21; Tunde Afolayan, 24; Michael Ademola, 22; Olamide Johnson, 20; Abiodun Opeyemi, 22; Oluseyi Agbaje, 21; Daniel Ayomide, 20 and Adebayo Tobi, 21.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said a 42-year-old man, simply identified as Idris, was also arrested for receiving stolen items. 

He said, "In his bid to get rid of crimes in the State, particularly traffic robbery, the commissioner of police has given a marching order to the commander of the RRS, Taskforce, divisional Police officers and tactical commanders in the state.

"And that is why the operatives of the command's strike team arrested almost 11 suspects at Ikeja along.

"These suspects are traffic robbers who have been terrorising innocent Lagosians and dispossessing them of their belongings."

The spokesperson said the arrested suspects are helping the police in the course of their investigation, adding that some of the stolen items have been recovered from the suspects.

" We want to send this message across to people like them that Lagos state is going to be very hot for them. We will not allow any individual or group of persons causing problems in Lagos state to jeopardize our security arrangement in the state.

"The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has warned that people like them should just leave Lagos State for us," he added.

Grouponeass recalls that six traffic robbers were on March 20 apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command at Ijora Olopa, Ketu and Ojota area of the state.
